Anderson Comes Away With Fifth

ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING CLAIM A PAIR OF TOP-FIVE FINISHES AT ARLINGTON 3 SX

The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team closed out a successful week of racing in Arlington, Texas on Saturday with a pair of top-five finishes at Round 12 of the 2021 AMA Supercross World Championship. Jason Anderson secured a fifth-place finish in the premier 450SX class, while teammate Jalek Swoll landed just outside the 250SX West podium with a solid fourth-place finish.

JASON ANDERSON ARLINGTON 3.png

Anderson got off to an eighth-place start in his heat but he put on an early charge to reach a top-five spot by lap five. With two laps to go, Anderson upped the intensity to claim two more positions for third. In the Main Event, he got a seventh-place start and quickly moved into fifth by lap four. He maintained a solid pace in fifth for the remainder of the race, coming away with his third top-five finish of the season.

“It was kind of a mediocre night for me, nothing too crazy,” Anderson said. “I feel like today was my ‘slower’ day on the track, so I’m hoping that we can get a little bit better so we can be on the podium.”

Dean Wilson had a positive start to the day, earning a season-best qualifying position of fourth earlier in the day. In 450SX Heat 1, he got off to a top-10 start and passed into eighth early on. He continued to charge into the final laps, securing a sixth-place transfer straight to the Main Event. In the main, Wilson found himself back in 14th on the opening lap but he fought his way into the top-10 by lap six. With a smooth and consistent performance, Wilson raced his way to a fourth-straight top-10 finish.

DEAN WILSON RD 12.jpg

“My qualifier was pretty good and I felt really good on the bike,” Wilson said. “My end result is a little disappointing because I feel like I rode good earlier in the day but I just need to have better race craft. We’ll try again at Atlanta and just keep pushing to be better.”

250SX West

Coming off a runner-up finish just a few days ago, Swoll looked to keep the momentum going in Arlington. In 250SX Heat 2, he got off to a good start as he battled in second early on. He dropped back to third a few laps in and from there he maintained a strong pace to finish third in the heat. In the Main Event, Swoll grabbed a top-10 start and he worked his way into the top-five on lap six. He rode his own pace in fifth for most of the race but he capitalized on the fourth-place spot late in the race to ultimately finish just off the podium in fourth. After five rounds, Swoll now sits fourth overall in the championship standings.

JALEK SWOLL RD 12.jpg

“I felt like the riding was good but the lapped riders didn’t play out in my favor tonight,” Swoll said. “I’m looking forward to the two-week break and we’ll come out swinging in Atlanta.”

Team rider Stilez Robertson wasn’t able to line up on Saturday due to a foot injury that he sustained on Tuesday at the previous round.

Carter Biese Recovery Fundraiser

A Go Fund Me campaign has been created to help Carter and his family in this great time of need.

On Thursday, March 11, 2021, Carter Biese suffered a major crash during a practice session at the Motoplayground Springadingding in Kemp, Texas, sustaining severe head and upper body injuries. Carter was immediately airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Arlington, Texas, where a team of physicians are assessing his injuries.

cb-2.jpeg

Carter underwent surgery to repair a torn artery to return blood flow to his arm. His shoulder separated so violently that it tore the artery.  An intercranial pressure monitor and drain was also installed.  Carter was placed in an induced coma and on a ventilator.   He sustained small brain bleeds, as well as some internal bleeding.

Currently the hospital has social distancing restrictions that make it difficult to navigate through this. Carter is allowed one visitor a day to be with him at the hospital.

cb-3.jpeg

Carters' medical bills are expected to be substantial even after his insurance is applied. To help offset these costs, a Go Fund Me campaign has been created to help Carter and his family in this great time of need. Carters' father, Scott, was with Carter at the event, however his mom and brother got on the first flight available from their home in Wisconsin to be with Carter in Texas. This is a very difficult time for the Biese family; they are exceedingly grateful for all the prayers and support. As more information on Carters' recovery becomes available, we will update his Carter Biese Recovery Facebook page.

Dunlop is The Clear Choice for Harley-Davidson

For close to 40 years, Dunlop tire engineers have worked with Harley-Davidson to develop tires that meet the stringent performance standards established by Harley-Davidson.

Dunlop Tires / The Clear Choice

Since becoming the Original Equipment tire partner on their Sportster® and FL models back in 1983, Dunlop and Harley-Davidson have built an unrivaled and iconic relationship. This relationship was cemented in January 1998 when Dunlop signed the first Master Supply Agreement in Harley-Davidson's history. This bond has continued over 37 years and 10 million tires later to establish Dunlop as the OE tire of choice for 70% of the H-D lineup today!

In addition to Harley-Davidson choosing Dunlop on the majority of their lineup straight from the factory, when it’s time to replace those OE tires, H-D riders replace them with Dunlop. In 2019, 80% of the H-D motorcycles at Sturgis, were fitted with Dunlop tires. This aids in establishing Dunlop as the #1 selling tire brand in North America in the V-Twin segment.

Dunlop is recognized as a world-leader in motorcycle tire design, engineering and manufacturing excellence. For close to 40 years, Dunlop tire engineers have worked with Harley-Davidson to develop tires that meet the stringent performance standards established by Harley-Davidson. And meeting those parameters means Dunlop tires deliver excellent all-around performance under a variety of riding conditions.

In addition, Dunlop is the only tire company that designs, develops, and manufactures motorcycle tires for Harley- Davidson in North America—and that’s an advantage that directly benefits all Harley-Davidson riders.

This all makes Dunlop Tires – The Clear Choice for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

The Mutant is the latest addition to Dunlop’s premium performance product line.

dunlop-mutant.png

Rancho Cucamonga, CA: Dunlop’s all-new Mutant is what you might expect: A mutation of unique components that create one of the most versatile street tires Dunlop has ever produced.

The Mutant is the latest addition to Dunlop’s premium performance product line. With an aggressive tread pattern customizers will love, a high-level of grip rain or shine, plus high mileage, the Mutant packs a broad portfolio at a high-performance level. Perhaps the best news: the Mutant is available in a host of sizes that fit more than 250 different motorcycle models available in the U.S.

Combining lightweight, Jointless Belt construction, Apex technology—a special sidewall treatment that increases braking and cornering stability—and Dunlop’s exclusive MT Multi-Tread™ technology that combines high mileage with plenty of side grip, the Mutant offers nimble handling, a compliant ride, high mileage, and lays down a big footprint for extra grip.

MT Multi-Tread in the rear tire allows the Mutant to provide additional mileage compared to single compound tires, which makes the Mutant ideal for touring and commuting, and the high-grip lateral compounds on each shoulder give the Mutant full sport tire capabilities.

The combination of a high silica compound—which increases grip in wet conditions—and deep tread that channels off water like nothing short of Dunlop’s racing rain tires, help give the Mutant exceptional performance in the rain.

Along with its aggressive looks and performance, the Mutant is available in a host of sizes that fit more than 250 different motorcycle models. With such a huge volume of fitments and a high level of mileage and performance, the Mutant is an ideal all-around tire with capabilities few tires can match.

dunlop-mutant-info.png

Technology:

MT Multi-Tread

Dunlop’s patented MT Multi-Tread technology in the rear-tire uses a high-mileage compound in the center of the tread for maximum mileage, and high-grip lateral compounds on the shoulders for maximum grip and performance. Multi-Tread helps deliver the best of both worlds: class-leading mileage, and cornering grip that rivals purpose-built sport tires.

JLB

Jointless Band technology uses a continuously wound belt within the tire carcass, limiting dynamic growth and making handing more consistent.

4ST

4 Seasons Technology combines ply materials and hi-silica compounds with deep, uniquely shaped tread grooves to displace water for maximum traction in wet conditions.

RPC

Rayon Ply Casing material allows the Mutant to warm up quickly and helps increase mileage.

Hi Silica

A high silica compound ratio promotes tread flexibility, especially at low operating temperatures, increasing wet and dry grip, and mileage.

Jalek Swoll Earns First-Career Podium

ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING’S JALEK SWOLL EARNS FIRST-CAREER PODIUM IN 250SX WEST DIVISION

JASON ANDERSON OVERCOMES A TOUGH START TO FINISH SEVENTH IN THE 450SX CLASS

Round 11 of the 2021 AMA Supercross World Championship took place in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday serving as the second of three races to take place inside AT&T Stadium this week. It was a memorable day for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team, who witnessed a break-through performance by Jalek Swoll as he earned his first-career podium with a strong second-place finish in the 250SX West Main Event.

250SX West

It was a superior day all around for Swoll, who placed a season-best sixth in qualifying before setting out to a strong start in 250SX Heat 1. With a top-three start, Swoll ran up front throughout the entire race to ultimately capture third, his best heat race finish of the season. In the Main Event, Swoll kept the momentum rolling with another great start, sitting second right away on the opening lap. He diced back-and-forth inside the top-three in the first few laps but he eventually set claim to the number two spot. Maintaining his composure through the pressure up front, Swoll went on to secure his first career podium with an impressive second-place finish.

JALEK SWOLL PODIUM RD 11.png

“I’m so happy right now, I can’t even put the words together,” Swoll said. “It was such a long road but I kept my head down and I knew I was going to get here. First podium – I’m pumped and just happy to reward the people who have stuck behind me. I definitely want to carry the momentum into Saturday.”

JALEK SWOLL RD 11.jpg

It was an unfortunate ending to the day for Daytona SX runner-up Stilez Robertson, who made it through qualifying and his heat race before ending his night early due to a foot injury. In 250SX Heat 1, Robertson grabbed a sixth-place start and he raced in that position until two laps to go, when he overtook fifth. Although he secured a fifth-place transfer position, Robertson was unable to line up for the Main Event due to a foot injury sustained earlier in the day.

450SX

Coming off a season-best podium finish just a few days ago, Anderson returned to Arlington on Tuesday with high hopes of a repeat performance. Qualifying fifth, Anderson was on-track heading into 450SX Heat 2, but he got pinched off the start and began the opening lap in 15th. He was able to quickly charge through the field, scooping up 10 spots to secure an eighth-place transfer into the Main Event. In the main, Anderson once again found himself at the back of the pack after getting tangled up and going down in the first turn. As he was working his way forward, Anderson got stopped up behind a few downed riders and lost a lot of momentum but he did his best to continue climbing. With an impressive charge, Anderson worked his way up to just outside the top-five battle, ultimately finishing seventh.

“My riding was actually really good once I figured out some issues we were having,” Anderson said. “I had a little mishap in the heat race and ended up eighth. In Main Event, I had a not-so-good of a gate pick and had a first corner fall, starting in dead last, but I was able to get back up to sixth. I’m looking forward to the next round, I think we can do some damage.”

Wilson got a seventh-place start in 450SX Heat 1 and he put himself into a favorable sixth-place position early on. With consistent laps, Wilson held onto sixth for a majority of the race until encountering a race-ending issue with the rear wheel on the final lap. In the LCQ, Wilson secured a fifth-place start and he charged his way up to second late in the race, ultimately passing for the lead and securing the win. In the Main Event, Wilson started in ninth and he battled around the top-10 for most of the race. He locked in 10th heading into the final laps, where he finished 10th on the night.

“It’s not an amazing ride for me but I’ll definitely build from it,” Wilson said. “I need to keep being in the top-10 and then to the top-five and eventually on that podium. It’s been a tough season so far with injuries but I’m working through it and trying my best. Thank you to the team, my bike was awesome!”

Moto Guzzi Celebrates Its Centenary

A CENTURY OF MOTORCYCLING HISTORY CONSTANTLY AT THE CUTTING EDGE, WITH THE ABILITY TO INNOVATE WHILE KEEPING FAITH WITH VALUES AND TRADITIONS

PIAGGIO GROUP CHAIRMAN AND CEO ROBERTO COLANINNO: “THE MOTO GUZZI CENTENARY IS A PROUD MOMENT FOR ITALIAN INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE. TODAY THE BRAND IS ENJOYING A FRESH NEW SEASON OF SUCCESS AND CONTINUES TO INSPIRE GENUINE PASSION IN BIKERS ALL OVER THE WORLD”

A HOST OF MOTO GUZZI INITIATIVES TO MARK THE ANNIVERSARY, CULMINATING IN MOTO GUZZI WORLD DAYS IN MANDELLO DEL LARIO FROM 9 TO 12 SEPTEMBER

Mandello del Lario, March 2021 – On 15 March 2021, Moto Guzzi will celebrate its first legendary 100 years.

A century of history, splendid motorcycles, triumphs, adventures and extraordinary personalities, who together built the legendary Eagle Brand. Moto Guzzi celebrates this exceptional milestone at a time when it is enjoying a fresh new season of success.

The motorcycle range has been extensively renewed, with the deployment of state-of-the-art technical features in terms of electronic rider aids, while the brand values of style and authenticity have been kept intact. Each Moto Guzzi motorbike is constructed at the Mandello del Lario plant with craftsmanlike care and commitment to a unique, authentic identity, skillfully balancing the classic Moto Guzzi style with cutting-edge technology and reflecting a construction philosophy that creates an exclusive relationship between the bike and the rider.

moto-guzzi-100.jpg

Piaggio Group Chairman and CEO Roberto Colaninno said: The Moto Guzzi centenary is a proud moment both for the Piaggio Group, which was joined by the Eagle brand in 2004, and for Italian industry as a whole, not just the motorcycling sector. A capacity for innovation, boldness in moving ahead of the times, a competitive spirit, love for the product and meticulous attention to production quality are the skills that over the years Moto Guzzi has combined with its unique relationship with the local community. Ever since 1921, every Moto Guzzi bike that has gone out into the world has been built at the Mandello factory, the place where the company was set up exactly one hundred years ago. All this will continue through its second century of history. Moto Guzzi is an example of all-Italian excellence,” added Colaninno. “It has gone down in our country’s history without ever losing its youthful spirit and continues to inspire genuine passion among thousands of Guzzi bikers all over the world.”

The eagle logo, the unmistakable Moto Guzzi emblem, has in itself helped to create the legend of a brand that has always been indissolubly tied to the history of Italy.

The spread-winged eagle dates back to the military service of the company's founders, Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Parodi, in the Italian Royal Navy’s Aviation arm during World War One. It was during the war that the two friends, and pilot Giovanni Ravelli, decided to go into motorcycle manufacturing once the conflict ended. Ravelli was killed in an accident in 1919 and was never able to achieve his dream. Guzzi and Parodi chose the Eagle as their symbol to commemorate their companion.

Over its one hundred years, Moto Guzzi has won victories on racing circuits around the world, raising the Italian flag for an impressive 14 World Championship Titles. It was the motorbike of the speed record, the symbol of growth of a country looking to the future, the motorcycle of the police force and the army, and extended its vocation to the international stage, equipping the Californian Police and, more recently, the police forces in Berlin and many other European cities, as well as the sovereign’s escort in JordanMoto Guzzi is also the motorcycle of the Corazzieri, the elite corps that escorts the President of the Italian Republic.

From the very start, Moto Guzzi has been the motorcycle of choice for long-distance travel. It was 1928 when Giuseppe Guzzi reached the Arctic Circle on his GT “Norge”, starting a tradition that still continues, with travelers setting off on their Moto Guzzi bikes every day, somewhere in the world, bound for distant lands.

Today Moto Guzzi is a core division of the Piaggio Group, Europe's leading constructor of motorcycles and scooters, which has conserved Moto Guzzi’s original characteristics, promoted its values and returned it to a forefront position.

The move back into competitive racing with the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance Trophy, to be held this year on a European scale, and a new family of motorbikes have brought Moto Guzzi back to a prime market position and introduced its name to a younger public. The classic V7, which has just come out on the new 850 twin cylinder, and the classic enduro V85TT intended for travel and designed for comfort and easy riding, are the best-sellers of a brand that has been enjoying a revival for a number of years.

Moto Guzzi has always been admired and respected by bikers all over the world, whatever motorcycle they own, and bikers will be the protagonists of Moto Guzzi World Days at Mandello del Lario from 9 to 12 September, the clou event in the festivities for the Moto Guzzi centenary, the main celebration for this special anniversary.

Moto Guzzi World Days has always been an unmissable occasion for bikers and now makes its eagerly awaited comeback, ten years after the last edition. Tens of thousands of enthusiasts will arrive from every corner of the planet to enjoy a unique and unforgettable event, made possible thanks to the collaboration between Moto Guzzi, the Comitato Motoraduno Internazionale and the municipality of Mandello del Lario.

100 YEARS OF HISTORY FOR THE MOST AUTHENTIC NAME IN WORLD MOTORCYCLING

It was 15 March 1921 when the “Società Anonima Moto Guzzi” company was established, for the “manufacture and sale of motorcycles and any other activity related or linked to the metalworking industry". That was the moment when the founders, Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Parodi, chose the spread-winged eagle as the company logo, in memory of their comrade-in-arms Giovanni Ravelli. The trio had served together in the Royal Navy's Aviation arm, where they had developed the idea of setting up a business to build innovative motorcycles once the war had ended. Ravelli died in 1919 during a test flight and his two friends decided to commemorate him with the symbol of the air division. The eagle has been the symbol of Moto Guzzi since then, and rapidly became a world-famous trademark.

This was the beginning of an industrial enterprise based in Mandello del Lario – in the factory where Moto Guzzi bikes are still manufactured today – that has gone down in the history of world motorcycling, producing bikes that have become part of the collective imagination: bikes like the GT 500 Norge (1928) ridden to the Arctic Circle by founder Carlo Guzzi’s brother Giuseppe, the Airone 250 (1939), the Galletto (1950), which powered mass motorization in the postwar period.

The 1950s saw the debut of the wind tunnel – a world first in the motorcycle industry, and still open for visits today at the Mandello factory – the brainchild of a close-knit team of extraordinary engineers including Umberto Todero, Enrico Cantoni and a designer whose name would quickly acquire legendary status: Milan-born Giulio Cesare Carcano, father of the incredible Otto Cilindri, or V8, with a top speed of 285 km/hour (1955), and the prototypes that won 15 world speed titles and 11 Tourist Trophy titles between 1935 and 1957.

In the 1960s, after the lightweight two-wheelers Stornello and Dingo, Moto Guzzi brought out the 700 cc 90° V-twin engine with cardan shaft final drive, destined to become the symbol of the Mandello manufacturer on such legendary models as the V7 Special, the V7 Sport, the California and the Le Mans. The engine was consistently evolved on this architecture and today, flanked by cutting-edge electronic control features, powers the most popular Moto Guzzi two-wheelers, such as the V7 range, the V9 Roamer and Bobber, and the great V85TT tourer, the world’s first-ever classic enduro.

To celebrate the centenary, the entire Moto Guzzi range is also available in the special Centennial Livery, in an exclusive edition for 2021 only, inspired by the legendary Otto Cilindri racer.
