Dunlop Update - MotoAmerica Championships

Dunlop Motorcycle Tires - MotoAmerica Championships

Rancho Cucamonga, CA:: Dunlop is proud to be the AMA MotoAmerica spec tire for all classes since the series began 8 years ago, and recently extended their partnership for another three more years! Each year it seems like North America’s premier motorcycle road racing series continues to become more and more thrilling. The 2022 MotoAmerica Series was no exception with it ending at the Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. The amazing track conditions made for some of the most exciting racing of the year. The 2022 MotoAmerica Superbike Series all came down to the final round, winner takes all with Fresh N’ Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing’s Jake Gagne only having a 4-point lead over Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC’s Danilo Petrucci.

Last year, Jake Gage took home an astounding 17 race wins to earn his inaugural MotoAmerica Superbike championship. This season was more challenging for the 2021 champion with competition from MotoGP winner, Danilo Petrucci. At the two round season finales, Gagne took the win in race 1 on Saturday and finished second in race 2 on Sunday behind his Fresh N’ Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing teammate Cameron Petersen. This was enough to secure the championship by twenty points on his Dunlop KR448 and KR451 racing slicks!

At the penultimate round in New Jersey three support class titles were decided. In the Supersport class, Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Josh Herrin was crowned as champion for the third time after his 2013 AMA Superbike Championship and his 2016 MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 crown. In addition, in the Stock 1000 class, Corey Alexander was awarded champion after winning seven races on his Tytlers Cycle RideHVMC BMW. The Mission Foods/S&S Cycle/Indian Challenger rider Tyler O’Hara also finished out the season as champion in the always exciting Mission King of The Baggers series in New Jersey.

Back in Alabama, the Junior Cup title was wrapped up by Alpha Omega Kawasaki’s Cody Wyman but not without pressure from Gus Rodio and female race Kayla Yaakov. Meanwhile the N2 Racing/BobbleHeadMoto Yamaha rider Blake Davis clinched the Twins Cup Championship by riding conservative to a fourth-place finish at the season finale. In the hands-on Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. Championship, rider Kayleigh Buyck won four races in the series to seal the championship.

The future of road racing looks bright with competitors in the MotoAmerica Mini Cup by Motul. This year three different winners won each class; Nathan Gouker won the 110cc (ages 6-10) class, while Ryder Davis won the 160cc (ages 10-14) class and international road racer Kensei Matsudaira took home the 190cc (ages 10-14) class, all riders competing on the new Dunlop Sportmax Slick tires that were fitted on their Ohvale race bikes.

“MotoAmerica racing in 2022 has been some of the most exhilarating racing we’ve witnessed in years, as the points battle came down to the last race!” said Mike Buckley, Senior VP, Sales and Marketing, Dunlop Motorcycle Tires. “ The continued evolution of the series, classes and tires are a testament to the dedication of MotoAmerica, our Dunlop support crew and all the riders, racers, teams and supporters. We are honored to be the official tire of MotoAmerica for years to come.

All training is delivered by fully accredited trainers.

Accompanying the training is a variety of adventure tours, that allow adventure bike riders to experience the natural beauty of Northern Michigan in a way that can only be seen from a motorcycle. All Jeff Stanton Adventures tours and training sessions start from Two Hats Ranch in Big Rapids MI, where customers will enjoy rustically elegant accommodations and professionally prepared meals during their experience. Jeff’s team have worked tirelessly to ensure their customers will enjoy the same level of premium training and tour experiences as they would attending the Triumph Academy in Wales. TRIUMPH RACING TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

TRIUMPH RACING MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Triumph Motorcycles confirms plans to compete in the prestigious FIM Motocross World Championship in 2024, with a factory supported race program under an all-new Triumph Racing banner.

Triumph Motorcycles confirms plans to compete in the prestigious FIM Motocross World Championship in 2024, with a factory supported race program under an all-new Triumph Racing banner.

This landmark new Triumph Racing Team has been set-up in partnership with Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, one of the sport’s most experienced and successful team owners, who will field two of Triumph’s all-new 250cc 4-stroke MX bikes in the 2024 MX2 class and will add an entry into the 450cc MXGP class in 2025.

Under the new Triumph Racing banner, which will now cover all of Triumph’s racing-related activities including Moto2 and Supersport racing, the partnership between Triumph and Thierry will encompass his well established and highly successful team structure and facilities. Further emphasizing the ambition and commitment to win central to this new partnership, Triumph is also pleased to announce that his long-standing Team Manager, Vincent Bereni, will continue leading the team with a full crew of highly experienced technical staff, all focused on bringing Triumph to the pinnacle of motocross racing performance.

The new long-term partnership between Triumph and Thierry reflects a shared goal and commitment to build depth and success into Triumph Racing’s approach to competition. As a part of Triumph Racing’s portfolio of commitments, Thierry and Vincent’s team will focus on the FIM Motocross World Championship – in MX2 and MXGP, together with development of technology and talent to build Triumph’s future strength in international motocross racing.

Thierry and Vincent’s past racing record speaks for itself – with over 80 MXGP World Championship victories and a huge reputation for technical and preparation excellence. Backed by Triumph’s in-house motocross design engineering department, which is responsible for the concept and development of its all-new MX and Enduro motorcycle range, Triumph Racing is committed to building its resources and performance capability with world-class knowledge and experience.

Triumph Racing is based at Triumph’s Global Headquarters in Hinckley, UK, where the brand’s research, design, engineering development and prototype build are located, and the Motocross World Championship team will be based at Thierry’s race facility near Eindhoven in Holland, where race team personnel, operations and competition development will be housed. Engineering groups at the Triumph factory and the race team are working closely together on continuously enhancing chassis and engine performance through an intensive testing schedule underway in the USA, UK, and mainland Europe, building towards the first MX2 Grand Prix of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship.

Testing of the new Triumph motocross and enduro bikes is well underway and information on the specifications, performance characteristics, and components of each model will be released in due course, along with more news on Triumph Racing’s entry into further top-tier Championships and categories.

Nick Bloor - CEO, Triumph:

“Our new partnership with Thierry demonstrates Triumph’s long-term commitment to competing at the highest levels of racing. We share a passion for delivering world-class performance, and the experience Thierry and his team bring will prove invaluable in our ambition to make our mark on a very competitive championship. Our entry into the FIM Motocross World Championship with a Factory supported Triumph Racing team signifies a landmark moment at the beginning of our new top-tier off-road racing campaign”.

Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni - Triumph Racing Team Owner (MX2 and MXGP):

“Triumph have made a major commitment to build an MX bike and go racing in the FIM World Motocross Championship. I am happy that my team is going to be the official Triumph Racing Team in MX2 and MXGP. Nick Bloor and the Triumph Board of Directors have made their long-term ambitions for the project very clear and I see a huge amount of passion from everyone at the Factory. I am happy with progress on the bike, it looks great, has speed on the track and Vincent and my staff are working with the engineers at Hinckley on building it into a competitive package for entry into the MX2 Championship in 2024. MXGP continues to grow around the world, I am very happy to be back and looking forward to going racing with Triumph”.

David Luongo – CEO, Infront Moto Racing:

“It is a great news! Probably one the most important in recent years. Infront Moto Racing will welcome a new manufacturer in the MX2 and MXGP World Championship. We are talking about one of the most emblematic motorcycle brands in the world. Triumph will join our championship from 2024 with a full program in MX2 and MXGP categories. This is a very important announcement and is a fantastic sign about the interest and the importance of MXGP in the international motorsport scene. During the last 20 years, MXGP has been growing and has established globally. With an average of 19 events per year, it gives the best platform for manufacturers to develop their bikes, components and to advertise them worldwide. From Asia to South America, going through Europe, MXGP is covering all the different markets and is touching most of the off-road fans in the world. It is with a great pride and excitement that we welcome Triumph to MXGP and we wish them a lot of success in the years to come and a great competition with the other Factory Teams already present!”

Jeremy Appleton - Global Racing Manager, Triumph:

“The launch of Triumph Racing is a pivotal step in our journey to bring Triumph to the pinnacle of racing across an even wider range of disciplines. Building on Triumph’s success as the sole engine supplier to the Moto2 World Championship and our participation in Supersport racing, the move into MX2 and MXGP opens the door on a strategically important new chapter in top-tier off-road racing. We well know the demands of World Championship competition and that is the reason for forming the partnership with Thierry. Together with Vincent, their approach to racing and development of performance is impressive and we are looking forward to building the project together and adding to the success that they have already achieved in the Motocross World Championship”

Ricky Carmichael - Global Off-Road Ambassador, Triumph:

“I’m really excited about today’s news. It’s been a long time coming. Since the start of this project with Triumph, I have been amazed at just how hard everyone has been working. It must not go without mentioning, the whole R&D and engineering group that have been a part of the development of the motorcycles have done an absolutely incredible job. From the first stages of the prototypes, I was really taken back at how well the performance was, since then, being in the UK testing the newest developments, I can tell you that it has the capabilities of winning at the highest level and I personally believe the riders, from professional to amateur, across the entire range of off-road models, will really like what has been developed!”

Yamaha Enhanced Power Tuner App

Yamaha Announces Availability of New Enhanced Power Tuner App

Groundbreaking App Now Easier to Use with More Functionality

MARIETTA, Ga. – Sept. 21, 2022 – Yamaha is excited to announce an extensively updated version of its industry-leading Power Tuner App for the all-new 2023 Yamaha YZ450F is now available for download on either iOS® or Android® devices. As with previous versions, the free-of-charge application establishes wireless connectivity between the motorcycle and the user’s smartphone, enabling easy adjustment of air/fuel mixture and ignition timing to fine-tune engine performance to each rider’s preference, while also supplying a wealth of additional motorcycle and environmental data all conveniently accessible at the user’s fingertips.

Yamaha led the industry with the introduction of the GYTR® Power Tuner in 2009, again broke new ground with the industry’s first Power Tuner smartphone app in 2017, and now raises the bar once again with this updated version providing 2023 YZ450F owners with more functionality and improved user interface in an even easier to use app. New features include a focus on simplification with an intuitive “Quick Setting” slide bar for quick, easy engine mapping adjustments and helpful new FAQ-style engine and suspension tuning guides to assist riders with navigating setting options and dialing in their preferred power and handling characteristics. Additionally, a new integrated lap timer, new Traction and Launch Control tuning capabilities, and an improved real-time information dashboard monitor screen further increase functionality. All combined, this powerful tuning tool is like having Yamaha factory race support in your pocket.

Simple Tuning with New Quick Setting Slide Bar
With Yamaha’s new Power Tuner App, 2023 YZ450F owners can opt to quickly modify engine characteristics on a range between Smooth and Aggressive by using the intuitive new Quick Setting slide bar. This single scrollbar offers seven different power delivery options for simplified tuning. For owners wishing for more specialized tuning, the previously available grid matrix screen for both fuel injection (FI) and ignition timing (IG) allows a vast range of adjustments based on throttle opening and engine rpm; however, with this updated app the range of adjustments for FI and IG values has been significantly increased.

FAQ-Style Engine & Suspension Tuning Guides
To further simplify tuning, the app now includes helpful new engine and suspension tuning guides to assist users in finding their ideal setup. The engine tuning section provides a general overview and discusses the thought process behind using the FI and IG grid matrix screens to help guide riders toward reaching their desired power delivery settings. Suspension guides are developed in partnership with KYB and include recommended settings and solutions for a wide variety of conditions and machine behaviors to help speed up the setup process.

Lap Timer Feature
A new lap timer has been added, controlled via the multi-function switch located on the left handlebar. After each ride, lap time data recorded to the motorcycle’s ECU can be checked via the app, allowing the user to better track the effects of setting changes through lap-by-lap analysis.

Traction & Launch Control Tuning
The YZ450F’s newly adopted Traction Control System offers three settings (LOW, HIGH, OFF) selectable through the Power Tuner App. The new Rev Limit feature added to the existing Launch Control System can be set in 500 rpm increments for optimum launches when the gate drops.

Improved Real-Time Dashboard Monitor
The new app’s smartphone monitoring functionality has also been expanded. In addition to previously available functions like the race log and engine diagnosis, an enhanced real-time monitoring screen displays motorcycle speed, throttle position, engine rpm, fuel consumption, coolant temperature, intake air temperature, battery voltage, smartphone battery level and the current time.

The new Yamaha Power Tuner App retains all the functionality of the previous version including ability to download/share maps, diagnostic features and programmable reminders. It includes three pre-loaded engine maps, and the rider can make on-the-fly selection between two designated maps using the motorcycle’s push-button handlebar toggle switch. The new app is compatible with other Yamaha models which feature the Yamaha Power App; however, some of the new functionality is exclusive to the 2023 YZ450F. The app is free-of-charge on Google Play or the App Store and available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Indonesian and Japanese. Check out the Yamaha Power Tuner App page for instructional videos, the latest customized downloadable maps and additional information.
