HUSQVARNA LAUNCHES 2023 ELECTRIC MINI MOTO RANGE

HUSQVARNA MOTORCYCLES LAUNCHES 2023 ELECTRIC MINICYCLE MOTOCROSS RANGE

EE 3 AND EE 5 ELECTRIFY THE JUNIOR OFF-ROAD MARKET

Husqvarna Motorcycles is leading the green off-road charge with its 2023 electric minicycle lineup, offering a choice of two models – the EE 3 and the EE 5. Young riders can step into the exciting world of motocross on the all-new EE 3 to learn off-road skills, while the EE 5 has a distinct competition focus and performance to rival 50 cc gas-powered motorcycles.

The EE 3, the perfect entry-level machine for youngsters, is undeniably a fully-fledged motorcycle, delivering the same high-level of quality for beginners and recreational riders as the competition-focused EE 5 but with reduced power and seat height. With its chromium molybdenum frame, durable WP suspension and advanced lightweight construction, the EE 3 still delivers on performance.

Peak power of 3.8 kW with compliant delivery via an intelligent, state-of-the-art control unit brings the thrills but will not overwhelm younger riders. The electric motor’s permanent drive means there is no clutch or gearbox to master, further simplifying the riding experience. Small diameter 10” wheels add to EE 3’s easy manageability, as do a low, adjustable seat height and hand lever-operated front and rear brakes. A fast-charging Li-Ion battery quickly returns the EE 3 to the action.

Aimed at beginners and experienced racers, the EE 5 is clearly inspired by the TC 50 motocross machine, delivering electric motor performance to rival its combustion engine counterpart. A chromium molybdenum frame, premium adjustable WP suspension, 12” front wheel and advanced lightweight construction make the EE 5 a complete racing machine able to run at the front.

The EE 5’s electric motor ups the performance package with peak power of 5 kW, delivered via an intelligent, state-of-the-art control unit. It eliminates the need for a clutch or gearbox so that new riders can focus on building their off-road riding skills. Run time of the EE 5 is up to two hours of ordinary riding or 25 minutes in flat-out competition conditions, while it takes just 70 minutes to fully recharge the lithium-ion battery. Young riders of every height can hone their skills on the EE 5 thanks to an easily adjustable seat, which can be lowered even further with an optional Suspension Lowering Kit.

2023 Technical Highlights

  • State-of-the-art electric motors with 3.8 kW (EE 3) and 5 kW (EE 5) peak output

Volcon Launches Into the E-bike Market

Volcon Launches Into the E-bike Market With the Unveiling of Its Class 2 E-bike, the Brat

Austin, TX | September 8, 2022 | Volcon Inc. (NASDAQ: VLCN), the first all-electric, off-road powersports company, announced today that it has officially entered into the e-bike market with the launch of its class 2 e-bike, the Volcon Brat.

From the engineers behind the revolutionary Stag and the legendary Grunt, comes a bike built for any adventure, on or off road. Built like a motorcycle, the Brat integrates Volcon’s unique design elements, utilizing the iconic exo-arch frame that mirrors the same design of Volcon’s Grunt and Stag.

“While our brand was built on the dirt, we have a passion for all things performance and the Brat meets our expectations. We set out to enter the market with not only a high-performance machine, but a bike that had style as well. The e-Bike market is saturated with lookalike products, and we believe the Brat stands out from the crowd in both looks and performance,” said Jordan Davis, CEO of Volcon. “We believe the strong growth in the segment is a unique opportunity to offer a fresh product, grabbing the attention of on-road e-Bike enthusiasts. The proverbial leap from the Brat to the Grunt isn’t far. If you can ride the Brat, you can ride our Grunt, meaning as your riding style changes and experience progresses, we’ll have the product for you.”

The Brat has been built with four ride modes to accommodate everything from off-road adventures to maneuvering through urban traffic with ease. These modes vary from minimal pedal assist to full throttle engagement. With 70+ miles of riding fun on a single charge in Mode 1, the Brat provides enough range to empower your adventure and get you back home. The Brat is powered by a 48V battery that can be fully charged in 6-7 hours via Level 1 charging through a standard household outlet.

The Brat’s high torque Volcon motor delivers instantaneous power for sustained climbing and acceleration, with a top speed of 28 mph (when off-road mode is unlocked). This bike may be small, but it gives you enough power to go wherever your adventure leads. Unlike some other e-bikes, The Brat is built for on and off-road riding. The integrated LED headlight and taillight means the fun doesn’t have to stop just because the sun goes down.

The Brat redefines a connected experience by providing a level of information and convenience not found on other e-bikes. The Brat’s dynamic display provides the rider with estimated range, trip distance, time, odometer and speed at a glance. Carrying over the Volcon App technology to the Brat, from the Grunt and Stag, allows for a more dynamic riding experience and even more detailed information about charging time, ride modes and maps, all with simple bluetooth connectivity that seamlessly pairs to your smartphone.

Volcon expects to begin delivering the Brat to dealers and consumers in November 2022, with an MSRP starting at $2,799.

Dunlop Riders Dominate Pro Motocross Championship

Dunlop Riders Dominated at the 2022 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship

Rancho Cucamonga, CA: The PristineAuction.com National at Fox Raceway just outside of San Diego California was the twelfth and final round of the 50th anniversary 2022 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. After winning all the AMA Pro Supercross and Motocross championships since 2010, it was no surprise that for the thirteenth consecutive year, Dunlop riders won both the 2022 250 and 450 National Motocross Championships. The Dunlop Domination continued throughout the overall championship standings, taking the top nine spots in the premier 450 class, and taking the top sixteen positions in the 250 class. By capturing all the pro AMA titles in 2022, Dunlop riders have now won a remarkable 173 AMA Pro Motocross and Supercross Championships.

The 450 title was the one to watch as it all came down to the final round. With last year’s 450 champion out with an injury it opened the door for a new title holder. This 2022 season was considered one of the best MX seasons ever, with multiple points lead changes and the closest points battle it has ever been going into the final round. Team Dunlop Elite alumni Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton only had 1 point differentiating themselves going into Pala II. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac came out on top beating the Team Honda HRC rider in dominating fashion going 1-1 and capturing his fifth Pro Motocross Championship!

In the 250 class, last year’s champion Jett Lawrence continued his winning ways into the 2022 season. With a 41-point lead going into the final round, the Aussie only needed to ride smart to make it two 250 Pro Motocross championships in a row! The Team Honda HRC rider did so in the extreme heat by finishing first in the opening moto and second in his final moto of the season. With eleven moto wins and nine overall wins throughout the season, Jett Lawrence was crowned the 2022 Pro Motocross 250 class champion!

“This has truly been the most exciting Pro Motocross series that I can remember, and Dunlop riders continued their Dominance” said Broc Glover, Sr. Manager of Off-Road Motorcycles for Dunlop. “Not only is this the thirteenth consecutive year Dunlop riders won both Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championships, but our riders also had a perfect podium record in both classes at all twelve rounds! This is a testament to the brand, product and hard-working Dunlop staff that represent and support Dunlop day in and day out. In addition, we had the new Geomax MX14 sand/mud tire show its true protentional and was a great option for these top racers to use. Motocross riders have a choice in tires, and we want to thank all the teams and riders who chose to race on Dunlop.”

We’re not a powersports brand but a mobile sports company. We are thrilled to deliver a product that will hugely impact how people view electric micro-mobility and introduce the Anthem to a market we know is ready for it.”

VOLCON INC. (NASDAQ: VLCN), (“VOLCON” OR THE “COMPANY”), THE FIRST ALL-ELECTRIC, OFF-ROAD POWERSPORTS COMPANY, ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT IT WILL POWER ALL OF ITS OFF-ROAD UTILITY TERRAIN VEHICLES (“UTV”) WITH GENERAL MOTORS’ (“GM”) PROVEN AND TESTED ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE COMPANY’S FLAGSHIP UTV, THE VOLCON STAG, WHICH WAS REVEALED TO THE PUBLIC ON JULY 1, 2022.

Austin, Texas USA, Aug. 12, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AUSTIN, TX | August 12, 2022 | Volcon Inc. Future models, including future versions of the Stag, as well as the Company's planned “Project X” vehicle, will be designed and developed to utilize GM’s electric propulsion systems. Volcon will be the first, and currently only off-road powersports company to offer their full line of vehicles with GM’s electric propulsion.

In pursuit of a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion, GM aspires to eliminate tailpipe emissions from its light-duty vehicles by 2035 on the way to carbon neutrality in its global products and operations by 2040. Volcon is dedicated to improving off-road vehicle performance and sustainability and this agreement will help bring the fun and strong performance of EVs to more people, faster.

“General Motors has transformed from an automaker to a platform innovator, with scalable architectures designed to accelerate EV adoption across different industries and product types,” said Travis Hester, GM Vice President of EV Growth Operations. “Our work with Volcon is indicative of our plans and demonstrates the flexibility of the platform as well as potential applications well beyond traditional vehicles.”

Since inception, Volcon’s mission has been to electrify the off-road powersports industry by pioneering EV products that enable people to connect with the outdoors like never before.  Volcon vehicles allow for the adventurer to experience nature in its natural state by eliminating the noise and emissions that are commonplace with off-road vehicles today.

Although the Volcon Stag hasn’t been kept a secret, Volcon recently began sharing more finalized details of the much-anticipated all-electric UTV, which will come to market in 2023. The Stag, which is expected to be the first of many trim levels available, is expected to be a category-leading, high-performance off-road vehicle. The Stag will feature new technologies which the Company believes will provide a unique and thrilling off-road experience that isn’t currently available in the market today.

In addition to battery cell modules, the Stag will use a number of supporting components from GM.

The Stag will deliver a unique driving experience, combining performance and excitement that only an EV can provide, innovative connectivity and flexible utility that make the vehicle perfect for adventure and work.

The GM propulsion system will provide instant high power and torque, with AWD capabilities, enabling the Stag to have exceptional acceleration and speed recovery in a variety of terrains. Variable driving modes will allow the driver to adjust the power delivery to optimize performance or range according to the needs, while the innovative cockpit will provide a class leading human-machine interface (HMI), including multiple displays, and the capability to generate content and connectivity via the Volcon App. All of which will increase the driver’s interaction with friends and community.

“Bringing GM’s electric vehicle expertise and systems to the Stag will produce an off-road experience that could set the standard for the entire industry. Having access to immediate power and torque along with the customizable digital integrations that the Stag will offer, creates the perfect balance for a class leading UTV,” expressed Christian Okonsky, CTO of Volcon ePowersports. “Everyone at Volcon has worked so hard to bring the best possible UTV to market and our alignment with GM could not be a better fit for making this project become a reality. We save an enormous amount of R&D expense and gain years of drivetrain testing and validation by joining forces with GM. In essence, we significantly reduce our time and cost to get to market.”

Volcon also continues to explore and develop racing opportunities with the Stag. Volcon Technology Innovation Group (VTIG) has invested substantial efforts toward developing a highly competitive off-road race UTV which is expected to raise the bar in off-road racing with the help of GM EV technology.

Dunlop Riders Dominate at Loretta's

Dunlop Riders Dominated at the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s

Rancho Cucamonga, CA: At this year’s 41st running of the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s, Dunlop riders dominated once again, winning 34 out of a possible 36 titles. This performance continues to give Dunlop a win record at Loretta’s nobody can touch: In the past nine years, Dunlop riders have won an incredible 94% of the possible championships at Loretta’s—including winning every title two years in a row.

This year, the weather was back to being hot and intense, matching the battles that were generated on the track! Long-time Dunlop rider and 2001 AMA 125cc Motocross National Champion Mike Brown was the lone rider to sweep all six of his motos in the Senior (40+) and Masters (50+) classes. There were many classes where the last moto determined the champion.

Team Dunlop Elite riders took home two championships, and Team Dunlop Elite alums took home five, bringing the Team D championship total to seven titles this year. Casey Cochran stood out among the Team Dunlop Elite alum riders, taking home two titles, while other alums such as Haiden Deegan, Daxton Bennick, and Caden Braswell each grabbed titles for the team. In addition, current Team Dunlop Elite riders Kyleigh Stallings and Kade Johnson added two more titles to the Team D overall count.

Dunlop riders won all three of the specialty awards, which are presented to riders with outstanding performances during the six-day event. Team Dunlop Elite Alumni rider Casey Cochran received the AMA Motocross Youth Rider of The Year Award. Dunlop-mounted rider Avery Long was awarded the AMA Motocross Amateur Rider of The Year Award. And Team Dunlop Elite alumni Caden Braswell earned the coveted AMA Nicky Hayden Horizon Award in his last amateur race before turning pro, winning the 250 Pro Sport class and finishing second in the Open Pro Sport class.

“Every year we look forward to heading back to the Ranch! We enjoy seeing all the racers and families, and this year was no exception,” said Rob Fox, Dunlop Amateur Motocross Support Manager. “The track had a hard, slick base due to the recent floods, but the versatility of the MX33 made it the tire of choice. We know riders have a choice in tires, and we want to thank all the riders for choosing Dunlop.”

Hampshire Top 5 at Spring Creek

HAMPSHIRE HANGS TOUGH TO SECURE A TOP-FIVE AT SPRING CREEK NATIONAL

MCELRATH CAPTURES ANOTHER TOP-10 FINISH IN THE 450MX CLASS

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire fought his way to another top-five overall in the 250MX class with 5-4 moto finishes at Round 7 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Millville, Minnesota.

Hampshire got a top-10 start in the first moto and climbed up to seventh right away. Passing his teammate Robertson for sixth, he continued to plug away, reaching as far up as fourth. He got passed later in the race and dropped back to fifth, where he ultimately finished. In Moto 2, he got off to a sixth-place start and he quickly battled up to fourth early on. Fighting hard to make a late-race pass for third, Hampshire ended up going down just before the finish, but he was still able to salvage fourth in Moto 2. With combined scores of 5-4, Hampshire secured fifth overall on the day.

“It was a dog fight all day but I felt like I rode pretty well,” Hampshire said. “Second moto, I felt more comfortable but I had to ride so hard. It’s a bit frustrating but I feel like we’re riding probably the best I ever have and in control, just need a little bit more speed. I’ll go home this week and have a pretty good setup coming into next week.”

It was a heartbreaking ending to the day for both Jalek Swoll and Stilez Robertson, who each started off the day positively. In the first moto, it was Robertson who found his footing early on with a seventh-place start, while Swoll sat back in 13th after coming together with another rider after the start. Robertson passed up to sixth early on and he bounced around inside the top-10 for the rest of the race, dealing with a minor bike issue that had him finishing 10th in the first moto.

Swoll made a steady climb through the field, passing his teammate Robertson later in the race to ultimately secure ninth in Moto 1.

In Moto 2, Swoll and Robertson got caught up in a multi-rider pileup through the sand whoops and both riders found themselves on the ground and dead last at the start of lap one. In an unrelated crash, the race was red flagged early on and despite a second-chance to line up in a restart, Robertson was unable to make it, due to an injured ankle. Swoll attempted to return to the gate for a restart but ultimately made the decision to sit out the second moto as well.

“I didn’t have the best start in Moto 1 but I feel like the riding was pretty good and I finally felt like I was finding some comfort out there,” Swoll said. “Moto 2 was cut really short – just one of those racing incidents – and there’s nothing much I could have done. It is what it is, I had to sit that one out, but the positives are for sure in the right direction and I’m pretty excited to go racing next weekend.”

“My day was eventful,” Robertson said. “I qualified almost the best I have all year, so I was excited. First moto, I think I had a little bike problem that hindered me a little bit. In the second moto, I saw the two riders crash in front of me and I tried to go left and unfortunately my teammate was there and I hit him. I folded my ankle pretty hard and that’s all she wrote. I’m going to go home and get it checked out and try to get back as quick as I can.”

In his AMA Pro Motocross debut, Talon Hawkins had a steady performance to earn his first championship points in the 250MX class. He was mid-pack off the start of Moto 1 and he charged up to 19th early in the race, maintaining that position for a few laps. He later dropped back to 20th, where he ultimately finished. In Moto 2, Hawkins had a much better run after the red flag restart, sitting just inside the top-20 on lap one. He made a few passes up to 15th later in the race and from there, he rode strong to close out a solid debut in the professional ranks. Hawkins will return to the amateur circuit later this month to compete at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s.

“It was so sick!” Hawkins said. “I came into today looking to have some fun and I think I accomplished that goal. I didn’t do the best in qualifying but I tried to put it behind me and do as well as I could in the race. I had an awesome day, I ended up with a 20-15, so I’m pretty pumped on that for my first Pro National.”

Fill-in rider Shane McElrath captured a top-10 overall finish at the seventh round, carrying 10-11 moto scores on the day.

“It was a better day, I would say for the most part we were better and more consistent,” McElrath said. “First moto was probably my best first moto and in the second moto, I really struggled with the track and fighting with the bike pretty bad. Still trying to figure out how I can go faster and maintain that but we’re going to keep working.”
