Husqvarna Motorcycles launches their highly anticipated and exciting new range of “real street” motorcycles to the North American market at the Skylight Modern event space in the Chelsea Gallery District of New York City. This modern urban environment, often used for fashion and art shows, provided the perfect canvas to showcase and introduce an entirely new segment of motorcycling to a public motivated by design and technology. The VITPILEN 401, VITPILEN 701, and SVARTPILEN 401 are free of unnecessary excess and feature the most advanced technology to offer something new to the world of motorcycling.

Husqvarna Motorcycles’ return to street is a concept originally introduced at EICMA in 2014 with the unveiling of the VITPILEN 401 and SVARTPILEN 401 concepts and in 2015 the VITPILEN 701 concept. These three unique models, inspired by the minimal simplicity of classic Swedish design, are the beginning of a concept that will grow further. Created in the style of this legendary brand, Husqvarna's new urban motorcycles combine high quality, state-of-the-art technology and a progressive design approach to offer a modern riding experience without limitations.

The evening began with a cocktail hour that welcomed guests to immerse themselves in the simple and progressive new range with virtual reality experiences touring the Trollstigen, one of the most exciting roads in Norway, aboard a VITPILEN 701. An interactive presentation highlighted the features and design approach that runs through the whole VITPILEN family capturing the inclusive and pioneering spirt of the brand.

“We are excited to welcome the various media outlets joining us for this momentous occasion. It is with great anticipation that we welcome the VITPILEN family and we look forward to these bikes arriving in North American dealers early May of this spring.’’

– Blaine Schuttler: Managing Director North America

Vitpilen 401

Forget everything you know about contemporary street motorcycles, the VITPILEN range is innovative and progressive. Developed with a fresh perspective, reduced, pure and without industry influence, these motorcycles challenge all current design trends and use a clean, smart and less complicated way of creating a motorcycle. The simple yet progressive design approach is a thought provoking paradox where simplicity, ease-of-use and functionality meet innovative design and attention to detail.

The VITPILEN range is a definitive and bold statement, which exhibits Husqvarna Motorcycles´ never-ending quest to pioneer new territory. Simply put, the VITPILEN aims at stripping away all unnecessary gimmicks and presents a motorcycle in its purest form. Their uniqueness is however not limited to aesthetics, as the designers set out to create a motorcycle that captures the thrill of the ride which is instantly felt in the raw, natural and intuitive riding experience.

Husqvarna Reports Increase in Global Sales

A Third Consecutive Year of Record Breaking Sales as Swedish Marque Tops 30K Units Globally

Enjoying highly encouraging results during the business year 2016, Husqvarna Motorcycles have come close to doubling both their production and turnover in the last two years. Reaching total global sales of 30,700 units during the 12 months to December 31st 2016, the European premium manufacturer achieved an increase of both, units sold and turnover, of 43%.

This result follows the 32% gain in bikes sales during 2015 and underlines the brand’s positive strategy of growth. Generating the largest ever turnover in the brand’s history at the end of 2015, Husqvarna’s annual, worldwide turnover increased significantly in 2016, reaching more than 200 million Euros.

2016 saw Husqvarna successfully launch the all-new 2017 line-up of FE and TE Enduro models, available from September onward. In addition, the new 701 ENDURO and 701 SUPERMOTO models with the latest class leading engine technology have been also released during the second half of the year.

Importantly, Husqvarna completed their range of motocross bikes with the introduction of the 2016 TC 50 and TC 65 models. Together with the TC 85 and an extensive line-up of full-sized 2-stroke and 4-stroke models, Husqvarna now offers a complete range of nine motocross bikes.
In 2016 Husqvarna also unveiled the serial production version of the VITPILEN 401 and the SVARTPILEN 401 – the brand’s first, exciting ‘Real Street’ motorcycles will be available at dealers’ floor in late Autumn 2017. The newly introduced models will ensure the future expansion of the Husqvarna Motorcycles brand in the street motorcycle segment.
