Dunlop Wins 85 Championships at Mini O's

Dunlop Wins 85 Championships at the 50th annual Mini O's

For over twenty years, Dunlop has continued to provide support for this major amateur national.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA: The 50th annual Mini O’s at Gatorback Cycle Park would see record entries and prodigious competition with some of the most proficient athletes in the sport. Transpiring simultaneously with the Thanksgiving Holiday, thousands of athletes from around the globe traveled to Northern Florida to compete at the renowned venue.

For over twenty years, Dunlop has continued to provide support for this major amateur national. As with the season’s past, the soft/intermediate terrain MX33 was the tire of choice to clench eighty-five titles throughout the Supercross and Motocross portions of the event.

Starting the week on the Supercross track, forty-two competitors captured championships using the Dunlop brand. Noteworthy performances from members of Team Dunlop Elite included Casey Cochran [125 (12-17) B/C] alongside Kade Johnson [85cc (12-13)] Seth Dennis [85cc (9-13)], Kyleigh Stallings [Girls (11-16)] and Haiden Deegan making his big bike debut [450B]. Meanwhile, Team Dunlop Elite alumni Gage Linville acquired two overall championships in the 250 and 450 B Limited classes. Nick Romano, also alumni, earned two titles in both 250 and 450 Pro Sport classes.

Once the Supercross portion of the event concluded, athletes transferred over to the motocross segment of the event. While here, athletes accumulated another forty-three championships running Dunlop tires. With Cochran [125 (12-17) B/C, Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C], Johnson [85cc (9-11)], Stallings [Girls (11-16), Women 12+] and Dennis [85cc (9-11)], again, victorious in this particular category, Team Dunlop Elite riders would showcase award-winning performances. Gage Linville would amass four more gold medals in the B classes, while Nick Romano was honored as the recipient of the coveted Dunlop Silver Tire Award, an accolade granted to the competitor with the most points, participating in both Pro Sport and “A” classes.

“It was an amazing week with record numbers, great weather, and remarkable racing,” said Rob Fox, Dunlop Amateur Motocross Support Manager. “The MX33 was the tire to race on this week, and I want to thank all the riders for choosing Dunlop.”

INDIAN MOTORCYCLE RACING SIGNS SHAYNA TEXTER-BAUMAN TO 2022 AMERICAN FLAT TRACK SUPERTWINS FACTORY RACE TEAM

AFT Singles’ Most Winning Rider Joins Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew Alongside Reigning Champion Jared Mees & Two-Time Champion Briar Bauman

MINNEAPOLIS (November 18, 2021) – Following an exhilarating 2021 American Flat Track (AFT) season, the reigning five-time Manufacturers Champion, Indian Motorcycle Racing, today announced the signing of Shayna Texter-Bauman to its 2022 SuperTwins factory race team. With the signing, Indian Motorcycle will welcome the AFT Singles most winningest rider as the third member of the Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew – joining her husband and two-time SuperTwins Champion Briar Bauman and reigning 2021 AFT SuperTwins Champion Jared Mees.

Piloting the Indian FTR750, Texter-Bauman will pit under the factory trailer as Dave Zanotti will serve as Crew Chief for both riders. Former AFT Champion Jake Johnson will serve as her mechanic.

“The entire Indian Motorcycle Racing team and I are beyond excited to welcome Shayna to the Wrecking Crew, as she’s truly a remarkable racer with a relentless drive to succeed,” said Gary Gray, Vice President Racing, Service & Technology. “Shayna has no bounds that she cannot face, and we’re honored to have her join our team and represent our brand.”

“This announcement marks a key moment in my journey as a racer. I'm humbled to be joining the Wrecking Crew and cannot wait to get out on the track on the incredible FTR750,” said Texter-Bauman. “I’ve been at this for a while now and have always had the desire to finish my career on a Twin. I’m beyond appreciative of everyone that has supported me along the way. I still have that fire to race and have some lofty goals that I would like to accomplish before I’m finished racing. I’m definitely looking forward to this next chapter racing SuperTwins.”

Texter-Bauman enters AFT SuperTwins with a drive to blaze new trails for female racers. For 2022, Texter-Bauman looks become the first female rider to reach an AFT Twins or SuperTwins podium and win an AFT event within the sport’s premier class.

Thruxton-Ton-Up---Location-3.jpg

The original Thruxton played a major part in the birth of motorcycle motorsport, as far back as the late 1950’s when the racing Bonneville first took victory at the legendary Thruxton 500 race series, from which it took its name, courtesy of British racing legend, Mike Hailwood. And from then onwards, the Thruxton was a dominating force – race winner and record breaker – with years of success spanning the 1960s.

By 1969, the Thruxton had won the Isle of Man TT, with Malcolm Uphill cracking the 100mph production lap for the very first time. And on the road, thanks to its twin-powered performance, it had also become the bike of choice, inspiring a generation of teenage racers – a now-iconic subculture centred around British café racer motorcycles and Rock n’ Roll music – the “Ton Up Boys”.

Driven by the common goal of doing “the ton” – riding 100mph – the café racers of the day would modify their motorcycles to maximise speed and handling by stripping them down to the bare minimum.

Thruxton-Ton-Up---Details-3.jpg

And now, honouring that passion, racing heritage and iconic style, the new Thruxton RS Ton Up Edition celebrates the legendary period in Britain’s motorcycling scene with a unique new classically-inspired scheme, available for one year only.

Unique Ton Up Edition paint scheme and premium custom detailing
Perfectly accentuating the Thruxton’s iconic café racer DNA and timeless silhouette, the new Ton Up Edition design scheme incorporates a stunning and unique Aegean Blue fuel tank with Jet Black knee pad graphics, edged with hand-painted silver coach lining. dunlop-pr-11-10-21.jpeg

Rancho Cucamonga, CA: Since 2020, all American Flat Track classes have been running the new DT4 tire from Dunlop. Designed for pro and amateur riders alike, the DT4 has multiple compound options, a new tread pattern, more grip and can be run tubeless for greater overall versatility and performance. Now the official tire of American Flat Track features a new smaller 120/70-17 size for mini riders in a soft compound. This additional size will enhance the line of the highly successful DT4 130/80-19 front and 140/80-19 rear sizes.

This new 120/70-17 size is the ideal size for 85-150cc bikes running 17” wheels and is a universal fitment for both front and rear of the bike. “We have been working on this new tire for a while now as we have received a lot of requests for mini sizes,” said Dunlop’s Amateur Motocross/Flat Track Support Manager Rob Fox. “We recently extended our highly successful MX amateur Team Dunlop Elite support program to Flat Track enthusiasts as we want to see the Flat Track roots grow from the bottom up. We used top Team Dunlop Elite and supported riders to conduct testing on this tire, and we’re excited to now have them available to the public.”
