Over $70,000 Raised at the 7th Annual Kurt Caselli Ride Day!
Presented by Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, KTM, & FMF Racing the 2019 Kurt Caselli Ride Day brought together 680 supporters at the 7th annual Ride Day event.
TEMECULA, California (February 13, 2020) — The 7th Annual Kurt Caselli Ride Day event presented by Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, KTM, & FMF Racing brought 680 supporters together on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. The Ride Day event attendees, sponsors, and supporters raised over $70,000 to help with our mission of Protecting and Supporting the Lives of Off-Road Riders!
For the second year in a row, Fox Raceway welcomed The Kurt Caselli Foundation and supporters, and the weather was perfect for riding the venue's multiple skill-level motocross tracks and the Ride Day-exclusive off-road loop! During the event, the Vet track had segmented practice times to allow Kids, Women & Beginners to feel comfortable and able to spin a few laps on the track.
The Team Challenge, a race-style event, had 22 teams that consisted of Factory and Professional MX/SX/Off-Road/Road Racer/etc. riders who were teamed up with one of the lucky Challenge participants (at random) to take on the Vet track in a 20-min moto +1 lap. It was the team of Pro Rider Noah Kepple and Henry Roten that reached the finish line checkers first and will hold onto the Team Challenge Trophy for the year.
Every year we gather a select amount of special items to be featured in the silent auction. This year's silent auction included: a set of Kurt's Special K riding pants, a 2019 ISDE Team USA Jersey signed by the winning team, an Andrew Short signed Dakar 2019 vest & road book, a KCF firepit, and others. Our sponsors and vendors donated great raffle items as well, including an electric STACYC bike, Fox Racing Instinct MX boots, 6D ATR-2 Helmet, PCI Race Radios moto kit, and many other prizes.
Ride Day vendors offered exclusive event-only promos, and many donated a portion of their proceeds to support the KCF's mission. Attendees fueled up with delicious food from AB Off The Grid food truck, Fox Raceway's Red Plate Cafe, and 21+ non-riding attendees were able to grab a cold one from 805 Beer's airstream bar with special edition pint 805 x KCF glasses.
Our annual Legends Lap was a truly special moment of the day, so many riders joined us in a parade lap in remembrance of our beloved Kurt Caselli. Following the Legends Lap, The KCF President, Donny Emler Jr., called everyone to the stage to introduce the team behind the Foundation, share about what the Foundation is DOING in 2020, and highlighted a few of the safety projects. American Honda's Chris Cox joined the team on stage and presented The Foundation with two Pioneer 1000 side-by-side vehicles to be used as emergency medical vehicles. Five scholarship recipients were awarded $2,500 each in scholarship funds for the Spring 2020 semester, Rachel Stout and Henry Roten were present to accept their awards; Zach Rountree, Trevor Hunter, and Langdon Feltner could not be present. Scholarship applications for the Fall 2020 semester are now open, the recipient(s) will be announced on June 13, 2020, at the winery event - apply now! The Scholarship is very special to the family, and education was close to Kurt's heart. With the support of donors over the last six years, we have raised over $1,000,000 and spent $700,000 on safety projects and scholarships to help protect the riders and sport that Kurt loved.
