A Relationship to Yesterday and Forever

we meet again at the edge of night

lost, yesterday 

in a dreamscape of vibrant shadows and faded memories

you are my fondness of the past 

and my hope for the future

you are everything I’ve ever loved 

but you are not everything

I ache for our past

but the past is gone

I dream of our future

but the future doesn’t exist

all we have is now

gentle moments in passing

a leaf in the wind

a rock skipping on a pond

a flower in bloom

a delicate shade of pink

with each new sunrise and sunset

our utopia lies not in the destination

but in the process

here and now

yesterday and forever
