Steve McQueen Edition Scrambler at Mecum Auction

2022 Steve McQueen Edition Scrambler 1200 Serial No. 0278 to be Offered at Mecum Auction in Monterey California in August

Proceeds from the Sale of the Exclusive Triumph Motorcycle to Benefit Boys Republic

Triumph’s Serial No. 0278 of 1,000, 2022 Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition motorcycle will be offered for public sale on Saturday, August 14th in Monterey, California, at The Daytime Auction, hosted by Mecum Auctions, with all proceeds from the sale donated to the Boys Republic, a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian school and treatment community for troubled youth. The motorcycle is one of an exclusive run of just 1,000 produced globally and boasts a serial number that matches the number plate ran by Steve McQueen in the International Six Days Trial (ISDT). Held annually at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course during the world-renown Monterey Car Week, The Mecum Daytime Auction will additionally feature 600 classic and collector cars as well as approximately 100 vintage and antique collector motorcycles available for purchase, Aug. 12-14.

New Scrambler1200SteveMcQueen Hero1.jpg

It was back in 1964 when actor and motorcycle rider Steve McQueen, “The King of Cool,” helped to form and fund the first official Team USA to enter the famed ISDT motorcycle race held annually in Europe. His team members included Bud and Dave Ekins, Cliff Coleman and John Steen, all of whom piloted their very own Triumph motorcycle in the harrowing and iconic race. Their efforts across the pond were highly publicized, with countless magazines and news outlets including prominent feature articles about the race within their pages. As a result, imagery of McQueen atop his No. 278 Triumph at the 1964 ISDT remains prolific even today.

In celebration of the most famous movie star, stunt and motorcycle in history, the new Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition is inspired by the Triumph TR6 that pulled off that famous stunt in the iconic war movie classic, “The Great Escape.” This limited edition brings all the category-dominating specification, go-anywhere capability and advanced technology of the new 2022 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE, and adds its own premium McQueen-themed paint scheme and extensive list of beautiful, unique details. First launched for 2019, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 has rapidly become a modern Triumph icon, setting a new benchmark in its category. Fully equipped with a selection of premium Scrambler accessories, fitted as standard, the Steve McQueen Edition is now officially the highest-specification Scrambler 1200 ever.

New Scrambler1200SteveMcQueen Hero3.jpg

With just 1,000 Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition models available worldwide, each bike is individually numbered on the beautiful billet-machined handlebar clamp, which also features a laser-etched Steve McQueen signature. For even greater exclusivity, each bike comes with a unique certificate of authenticity stating the bike’s serial number, and carrying the signatures of Triumph’s CEO, Nick Bloor, and Chad McQueen, son of the legend himself.

An exceptional opportunity to acquire serial no. 0278 of the exclusive run of 1,000 McQueen-edition Scramblers will come about Saturday, August 14th in Monterey, as it crosses the Mecum auction block with a charitable twist. The highest bidder will not only become the proud new owner of this amazing motorcycle that bears a serial number matching the number plate ran by McQueen in the 1964 ISDT, but they will also write the check for its purchase directly to the Boys Republic school for troubled youth. The winning bidder will also be invited to attend the annual dinner of the Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show scheduled for October 2 as a Guest of Honor at the school located in Chino Hills, California. The school was founded in 1907 and has since helped more than 32,000 at-risk teenage boys and girls lead productive, fulfilling lives, including alumni Steve McQueen, who not only graduated from the school, but also later provided funding and support to the organization and its mission.

The Mecum Daytime Auction in Monterey is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Bidder registration is available online in advance and on-site for $200 and includes admission for two to each auction day. Those unable to attend and bid in-person are encouraged to register for telephone and internet bidding. INDIAN FTR750 SWEEPS PODIUM AT CHICAGO HALF-MILE

Indian Wrecking Crew Rider Briar Bauman Sits Atop Leaderboard Following First Win of 2021;

Indian Privateer Jared Vanderkooi & Factory Rider Jared Mees Finish Second and Third, Respectively

JOLIET, ILL. (June 1, 2021) – Indian Motorcycle Racing, presented by Progressive Motorcycle Insurance, and two-time defending Grand National Champion Briar Bauman secured the top spot in the season’s standings following the factory rider’s first win of the 2021 season. The win also marked the third of the season for Indian Motorcycle. Joining Bauman on the Chicago Half-Mile podium were Indian Motorcycle privateer Jared Vanderkooi and Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees, who finish second and third respectively.

Within the first several minutes of the Main, five riders battled at the front of the pack – routinely swapping positions as each pushed for separation. Following a red-flag restart, Bauman made an impressive move to gap Mees for the lead. From there, Bauman continued to run a smooth race as Vanderkooi and Mees battled for second.

“After being rained out in Texas, it’s exciting to return with such an action-packed Main,” said Gary Gray, Vice President – Racing, Technology & Service for Indian Motorcycle. “With five riders battling at the front of the pack, it was anybody’s race. But Briar stayed focused and took full advantage of the restart and earned his place at the top of the box.

Through four races, Bauman sits atop the leaderboard with 77 points. Vanderkooi and Mees are each tied with the third most points of 63, while Indian Motorcycle privateer Brandon Robinson rounds out the top five with 62 total points.

The 2021 AFT season continues June 18-19 with the Indian Motorcycle of Oklahoma City OKC Mile doubleheader. For more information on Indian Motorcycle Racing, visit IndianMotorcycle.com and follow along on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

SUPER HOOLIGAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RACING RETURNS IN 2021 WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF A FOUR RACE MULTI-TERRAIN SERIES

4 Races. 4 Disciplines. 1 Bike

LOS ALAMITOS, CA May 20, 2021 - The SHNC continues to revolutionize and reinvent the idea of closed-circuit heavy street bike racing with the introduction of the 2021 Super Hooligan National Championship QuaTTro! The SHNC has become the apex for contemporary motorcycle racing, influencing varied forms of “Hooligan” racing across all genre's, creating stars, attracting legends, and resurrecting careers all along the way. For 2021 we have put together a four-race, format-defying series that will ultimately determine who the best and most well-rounded heavy street bike racer in the nation is.

The four-round series comprises four unique and challenging disciplines with a mix of Road Racing, Short Track, Half-Mile, and TT; with the caveat to success being racers will have to configure the same bike to each firmament. The schedule kicks off at the world-famous WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA, in conjunction with the MotoAmerica HONOS Superbike / King Of the Baggers Series July 9-11, followed by The “Wild Ones” TT in Castle Rock, Washington, August 14-15, then back to Southern California, the birthplace of modern Hooligan for the Moto Beach Short Track September 11-12 and ending with a partnered AFT ½ mile dirt oval at the historic Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC October 8th.

“The 2021 Super Hooligan championship is all about diversity of terrain and like nothing seen before but still reminiscent of the AMA Grand National championships the likes that made Gary Nixon, Kenny Roberts, and Bubba Shobert legends, says Roland Sands, only our racers are incentivized to use the same bike at all four races. 4 races, full send with an AMA National Super Hooligan title and the bragging rights as the most talented heavy street bike racer.”

Look for upcoming announcements on how to purchase tickets and how to watch online.

Comoto Family of Brands Joins Forces with Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation to Support Ride for Kids

RevZilla, Cycle Gear, J&P Cycles, and REVER come together for the 37th annual ride, inviting communities and riders to help forge the path to a cure

PHILADELPHIA and ATLANTA — The Comoto Family of Brands today announced a partnership with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) to support its 37th annual Ride for Kids. The collaboration will aim to inspire and bring awareness to PBTF’s mission of finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors and transforming how children and their families are cared for. As a leader in the powersports community, Comoto will leverage its expansive network of riders, industry partners, and its brand capabilities to help increase fundraising efforts ahead of and throughout this year’s Ride for Kids.

“The work that is being done by PBTF is both personally and professionally close to my heart,” said Ken Murphy, President and CEO of Comoto Holdings, and Member of PBTF’s Board of Directors. “By joining forces with industry giants like Honda, we hope to help inspire the entire powersports community to make Ride for Kids one of the industry’s most prolific philanthropic events for years to come. We’re grateful to be able to do our part, and hopefully, motivate our communities to make a difference in the lives of these children and their families.”

To help make this year’s ride a success, Comoto will actively involve each of its brands within the family. For example, Comoto will be making a direct donation to PBTF for every mile logged in the REVER app throughout the course of the month-long 2021 Ride for Kids Challenge starting August 12th. Additionally, Comoto social media, marketing, public relations efforts, and other Ride for Kids awareness programs will be activated throughout the summer to help meet PBTF's fundraising goals. Riders will have three ways to get involved: Ride with REVER and/or a local Ride for Kids event, donate directly to PBTF, and shop at Cycle Gear, J&P Cycles, and RevZilla stores on Sunday, September 12th, when 10% of all in-store sales will be donated to PBTF.

“Pediatric brain tumors are not only the deadliest form of childhood cancer, they’re now the most common in children under 15. Finding a cure--one where kids have the opportunity to grow up without a lifetime of devastating side effects--is a global challenge the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation can’t solve alone,” says Bob McNamara, National Director of Fundraising and Community Engagement at PBTF. “We’re grateful to have committed leaders like the Comoto Family of Brands and American Honda riding alongside us, helping us raise the funds and awareness needed to fuel our mission. Together, we have an incredible opportunity to change the outcome for kids battling brain cancer, while revolutionizing what it means to ride for a reason.”

For decades, PBTF has provided strategic leadership and funding to accelerate research, targeted therapies, and opportunities for children fighting brain cancer. Industry partnerships and ongoing support has helped equip families with the education, financial relief, and emotional support needed to navigate the challenges they face as they support their child’s journey. Comoto’s partnership and support of this year’s Ride for Kids will tap into the influence and involvement of the entire powersports industry, ensuring fundraising success and another step towards a cure.
